UC and national lab to analyze snapshots of California from outerspace

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and its founder and historical partner, University of California at Berkeley, are proposing a technological measuring device from outer space to solve the ethical problem of the distribution of water in California. Satellite images, analyzed by their computers, will achieve one primary purpose beyond whatever funding LBNL skims off the top: they will provide more bedazzling information to water lawyers.

And, in drought years groundwater makes up to 60-percent of the state's water supply.

What is wrong with American media that we have to get our best reporting on the pandemic in this country from two Australians writing for foreign news services?

The Base Right who support Trump, of course want to deny the pandemic, and any natural or social scientific data suggesting their day in the sun is coming to a frosty conclusion at the end of the year.

MERCED (BLJ) – Merced County Public Health Department on June 9, 2020, reported 372 cases of COVID-19 (5 more than on June 8) and seven deaths.

California reported 133,489 (2,170 new) and 4,697 deaths (44 new).

The United States reported 2,017,335 cases (17,664 new) and 117,517 deaths (938 new).

The global report for the day was 7,185,573 cases (99,679 new) and 408,954 deaths (2,786 new).

MERCED (BLJ) – Merced County Public Health Department announced that as of June 5 there were 334 cases of COVID 19 (14 new), and seven deaths.

California reported 126,016 cases (3,115 new) and 4,559 deaths (74 new).

The global count for June 7 is 6,981,701 cases  (124,843 new) and 401,933 deaths (3,612 new).

MERCED (BLJ) – On June 3, Merced County Public Health Department reported 310 cases of COVID 19 (  new) and seven deaths.

California reported 117,587 cases (2,377 new) and 4,316 deaths (75 new).

The United States reported 1,890,083 cases (20,415 new) and 108,861 deaths (1,033 new).

The global report was 6,513,301 cases (117,973 new) and 386,091 deaths (5,511 new).

California reported 113,006 cases (2,423 new) and 4,251 deaths (38 new).

California reported 110,583 cases (3,705 new) and 4,213 deaths (57 new).

The United States reported 1,825,803 cases (20,058 new) and 105,770 deaths (611 new).

The global report is 6,152,160 cases (97,973 new) and 371,700 deaths (2,989 new).

MERCED (BLJ) – Merced County Public Health Department on May 29 at 2 p.m. reported 283 cases of COVID 19 (61 new cases since May 27) and seven deaths. The Merced County numbers are erratic at the moment. -- blj

California reported 103,886 cases (2,189 new) and 4,068 deaths (95 new).

The United States reported 1,783,132 cases (24,710 new) and 104,166 deaths (1,249 new).

The global report for the day was 5,919,364 cases (115,948 new) and 364,459 deaths (4,668 new).

Mexico reported 84,627 cases (3,227 new) and 9,415 deaths (371 new).

Virus notes: May 27, 2020: authority posturing in Merced

  MERCED (BLJ) – On May 27, Merced County Public Health Department reported that there were 222 cases of COVID-19 in the county, no change for several days. But five days ago, they reported 251 cases. Also, the county’s figure for number of deaths hasn’t changed in more than a week. There doesn’t seem to be any law requiring the county to report the true number. But a few hours in the emergency ward yesterday was enough to convince one Badlands Journal editorial board member that the hospital staff looks overlooked and apprehensive, although very competent.
