Trumplomacy and consequences

From President Trump's UN speech, Sept. 19, 2017:

This wealth, which rightly belongs to Iran's people, also goes to shore up Bashar al-Assad's dictatorship, fuel Yemen's civil war, and undermine peace throughout the entire Middle East. We cannot let a murderous regime continue these destabilizing activities while building dangerous missiles, and we cannot abide by an agreement if it provides cover for the eventual construction of a nuclear program. The Iran deal was one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into. Frankly, that deal is an embarrassment to the United States, and I don't think you've heard the last of it. Believe me. -- Kelly Swanson, Vox, Transcript of President Trump's UN Speech, Sept. 19, 2017

From CNN interview of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Sept. 19, 2017:Bottom of Form

New York (CNN)Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Monday that America will pay a "high cost" if US President Donald Trump makes good on his threats to scrap the Iran nuclear deal.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with CNN in New York, Rouhani said: "Exiting such an agreement would carry a high cost for the United States of America, and I do not believe Americans would be willing to pay such a high cost for something that will be useless for them."
Rouhani said such an action by the Trump administration "will yield no results for the United States but at the same time it will generally decrease and cut away and chip away at international trust placed in the Unites States of America." -- Christianne Amanpour and Hilary Clarke, Interview with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, CNN, Sept. 19, 2017
