Merced a miserable city? Not this time, according to Business Insider…Brandon Bowers

Another "most miserable cities" list came out, and Merced's not on it. Business Insider published a list of the country's 20 most miserable cities, based on unemployment rates and housing prices, among other criteria tallied by The Brookings Institution.
You may recall Forbes Magazine named Merced the country's third most miserable city back in February. Then, in July, Forbes said Merced was country's worst place to do business.
Unfortunately, Merced's absence from the Business Insider list may simply be because of its relatively small population size. The list compares the top 100 metropolitan areas in the United States, and with a population of about 80,000, Merced simply doesn't make the cut. Sadly, the Central Valley is well represented on the list: Modesto clocks in at No. 15, followed by Bakersfield (No. 14), Fresno (9), Stockton (4) and Sacramento (3.)
But whatever the reason, Merced residents are likely happy to not achieve a national ranking this time around. View the list here http://www.businessinsider.com/the-most-miserable-cities-in-america-2011-9.
Take that, Forbes.
