California firefighters say that they have never seen the forest so dry. "Explosive," is a word they use. And the worst part of the fire season hasn't yet begun.

In the midst of all the whining coming from well insured agriculture and all the hope and anxiety in Southern California for an El Nino, Badlands is observing moments of silence for the catastrophe wildlife and fish are experiencing this year from drought, wildfires and forest fires. -- blj
